Sunday Mornings at Emmanuel
Rite 13 - Grades 7-8
The Rite-13 curriculum assists young people as they take the first steps of passage away from their families and into their own relationship with God. It liturgically celebrates the God given gifts of manhood and womanhood. The program creates a safe haven to explore the teachings of Jesus, to learn more about the church and to have fellowship within their peer group.

Journey to Adulthood(J2A)  Grades 9- 10
Journey to Adulthood is a model of a spiritual formation program for grades 9 and 10. It attracts, instructs and nurtures young people at the ages when they are most likely to drift away from the church. J2A’s mission is to teach young people what it means to be a Christian in the world today, to form young people as practicing Christians and full participants in the life of their congregation and community. With Jesus as their role model, young people seek to examine and strengthen all aspects of their lives.

YAC (Young Adults in the Church) - Grades 11-12
Following their return from their two week pilgrimage, the young people are re-introduced to the congregation as Young Adults in the Church. From this point on they are encouraged to explore their spiritual gifts, personal ministries and role in the Church. During the first year, they prepare for to make a public statement of faith and a personal commitment as a Christian. During the second year, they begin exploring mission and ministry, as well as furthering their spiritual growth through Bible Study, discussion and fellowship activities.

Sunday Afternoons at Emmanuel
Facilitated by our Youth Ministers, Anna Kopp and Samantha Sessions
Emmanuel is host to many activities for youth on Sunday afternoons. Join one of our youth groups, join our drama troupe or bring a musical instrument and participate in our afternoon music program. There is something for everyone! Youth groups meet beginning at 4pm. They enjoy dinner together followed by planned activities. Check the Epistle weekly for our calendar of youth activities!

Diocesan Youth Events
Our youth are very involved in the leadership of youth activities around our Diocese. We send a large delegation to the Fall Youth retreats at Camp Chanco, and to our Diocesan Council in February as well as the spring youth retreats. Happening, (Cursillo for teens) is also very popular among our youth and we have many young people who have participated in this incredible weekend of spiritual awakening. Check out the Youth Ministry page of the Diocese of Southern Virginia for information on how to participate in these events, or ask one of our Youth Ministers!
