Sharing the Joy and Power of Life in Christ!

Outreach

“Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.”

Our Outreach ministry embraces these words of Jesus. We not only provide financial support to programs, but we offer lots of hands-on participation. We remind parishioners that we are agents of God’s kingdom in our community and in the world.

We are proud to be a Jubilee Ministry Center. We are avidly engaged in mission and ministry among and with people in need.

Our ministry includes:

  • Judeo-Christian Outreach Center – provides food and shelter for the homeless. We prepare and serve meals quarterly and as needed.

  • Kairos Prison Ministry — addresses the needs of incarcerated men and women.

  • Angel Tree – provides Christmas presents for children with parents in prison.

  • Operation Christmas Child - provides Christmas boxes to needy children locally and around the world.

  • Beach Bags – provides food to students who may not have enough to eat on the weekends. Emmanuel has adopted children from Arrowhead Elementary School.

  • Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia - We provide food and other items such as baby supplies collected several times a year.

  • Meals on Wheels – delivers meals one week each month.

  • Blood Drive – hosts three Red Cross blood drives each year, usually on the first Tuesday in April, August, and December.

  • Faith Works Coalition – Emmanuel volunteers serve on disaster relief mission trips.

  • Holy Cross Anglican School in Belize – Emmanuel has sent three mission teams to assist in teaching, tutoring, library organization, maintenance and construction and provides annual monetary support.

  • Rise Against Hunger — Emmanuel packs 10,000 meals one morning a year in conjunction with the Rise Against Hunger organization.

We financially contribute to Episcopal Relief & Development and other missionary programs.
