Adult Formation classes at Emmanuel strive to be interesting and informative. Since learning about our faith is to be a life-long process, we work to appeal to a variety of interests with classes that challenge, change and inspire us.
Formation for adults begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 9:45 a.m. each Sunday from September through May.
Adults have a choice of two programs on Sunday morning:
Adult Forum, led by both clergy and parishioners, offers a variety of presentations of interest to our faith community. Topics have included biblical archaeology, evolutionary Christianity, funeral planning, the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, and reports from Emmanuel mission trips. We meet on Zoom and in the Parish Hall.
Bible Synthesis, led by parishioners, is a good choice for those who desire an in-depth discussion about the day’s Bible readings and how they relate to current issues. We meet on Zoom and in the library.
Brotherhood of Saint Andrew - meets weekly on Thursdays for breakfast, fellowship, and discussion of the Bible readings for the upcoming Sunday
Cursillo Groups - small groups meet at various times to support members in their lives in Christ
Education for Ministry(EfM)- an adult continuing education seminar to deepen spirituality, leading to ministry in action. A trained mentor administers the seminar weekly during the program year to hear in depth the voices of scripture, prayer, worship, and theological reflection. The EfM can be a commitment to one year or four years of study.
Faith in Fiction - reads and discusses works of fiction that offer food for thought about faith and life experiences
The Richard Rohr Group - reads and discusses works by this important Christian author
Women's Bible Study - meets weekly for guided discussion of selected books or themes of the Bible
